My Treatment style
I want to inspire you to seek out your best self, not just relief from suffering.
Integrated approach
In my medical training, I was taught the art of whole person care. I learned that the needs of patients often go beyond the healing of the body. People often initially seek treatment from a doctor for relief of a physical ailment. However, being the whole person that you are, you come with psychological, emotional, intellectual, cultural, relational, and spiritual faculties that are equally affected by your illness. As we examine your current condition, we will incorporate every element of who you are into the assessment of your problem and treatment plan. In psychiatry, we call this a biopsychosocial model, and we will use this framework to inform your care.
Mind, body, spirit
There is a bidirectional relationship between physical and mental health with complex feedback mechanisms that interconnect and regulate the functioning of each. As such, your complete assessment will include a full history of your development, family of origin, major life events, medical conditions, surgeries, daily habits, social life, as well as prior psychiatric conditions and treatments. The soul is often neglected in modern medicine, but it is traditionally seated within the realm of psychiatric practice. The origin of the word psychiatry actually means “healing of the soul.” That being said, I would be remiss to ignore that which makes you so inherently human!
